Being busy and sick left me with no guest this week. I took the opportunity to talk about why & how I started the Michiana People Podcast, did a retrospective of the episodes to date, and threw out some ideas for the future. This podcast has meant a lot to me mostly because of the inspiring people I’ve met. I hope you have gained some knowledge and inspiration as well.

Jeff Thomas & Gary Stieglitz started off as home craft brewers. After they met at a school function, the idea for starting a brewery started to ferment. Now, Thomas & Stieglitz Brewing Co is a reality. With their new home on 5th St in Goshen, IN, Jeff & Gary are bringing their favorite craft brew to the world. The world (including me) is glad that they are. This was a great story and I really enjoyed learning about the brewing process.

Jess & Jake love making music and their harmonies are second to none. It’s great to hear a group with two songwriters and hear the different perspectives. This was an engaging interview. Hope you like it! You can get their new album “Light Will Travel” today! Check out the link below and give it a listen:

Emily Herriot launched Triple-P (Positive Parenting Program) in 2015. This program is a great resource for parents with children ages 0-teens who help or just want to get the tools to help them be the best parents they can be. This was a great conversation and I recommend listening for anyone who is, will be, or has been a parent.

I was fortunate to have Dave approach me to be on the podcast. Dave was a teacher in the South Bend School system for 15 years and is now an administrator. Dave is also an accomplished musician and has written some beautiful music. His live rendition of “143 Means I Love You” just about had me in tears! We talked about his music, teaching, today’s kids, & why his 105 year old grandmother declined an invitation for induction into the Daughters of the American Revolution. Don’t shut down your podcast app after the interview. There is a bonus track of his ode to Evel Knievel. This interview is a real gem!
