Being busy and sick left me with no guest this week. I took the opportunity to talk about why & how I started the Michiana People Podcast, did a retrospective of the episodes to date, and threw out some ideas for the future. This podcast has meant a lot to me mostly because of the inspiring people I’ve met. I hope you have gained some knowledge and inspiration as well.

Steve Sult and a group of fellow graduates of John Adams High School are in the habit of helping the community. They do this through an annual variety show called Everybody Has a Story. This is an inspiring episode about a group of people who decided to make a difference instead of taking it easy. This year’s show proceeds will benefit Madison Primary School in the South Bend School system. You’ll hear why they are a deserving benefactor and about the people who make Everybody Has A Story work.

If you visit the Everybody Has A Story site, you can see & hear footage of previous shows, learn about his year’s players, and get tickets for the show. Check it out here:

I’ve known Joe Feingold for many years. He’s the best guitar player I’ve ever seen….ever. We had a great talk about his guitar influences, the difficulties of trying to survive as a full-time musician, & his mom & dad. Joe is really a great guy and a great friend. Check out his band pages below:

I had a wonderful talk with Grant Carlile. He has been involved with Michiana First since he was in his robotics team at Penn High School. Michiana First is dedicated to supporting and creating competitions for area school robotics teams. They help students gain critical thinking and leadership skills that they take into adulthood. Grant is also the founder of Run For Phil which connects philanthropic running with the right tools, all in one place. Grant was a real pleasure to have as a guest and great guy to talk with. I had a great talk with Jackie, Jennifer, Laura, & Anekah from The State Theater in South Bend. These ladies are making a tremendous effort to keep The State Theater open in hopes that they may be able to purchase and renovate it to it’s former glory. Listen to their story then make sure to like their Facebook page to be notified of events. Keeping The State open and getting it restored is really a no-brainer considering all the good that is currently happening in Downtown South Bend.

Letters From Earth is a local indie rock band consisting of Amy VanDyke, Joe Archer, Nathaniel Fredrick, & Kyle Ray. I had a great experience talking to them about the origins of the band, their songwriting process, and the artwork for their “Planet Nine” EP. This is an awesome band with multi-talented musicians who don’t let ego get in the way of making music. Make sure to listen to their live performance of “Near” right after the interview.
